Altrusa offers a unique opportunity to make Lexington a better community in which to live.

The Lexington Club functions with a board of directors, a strong committee system and monthly membership meetings allowing every member to be personally involved in club projects and decisions. We meet on the third Thursday of each month at the Crowne Plaza (Campbell House) on South Broadway.  The meeting officially starts at 6, but we encourage you to arrive by 5:30 for socializing.  Each meeting is packed with food, fun, facts and a special guest. To learn more about becoming a member, visit our Membership Page or contact us.

The club assesses the needs of the community and strives to meet the ever-changing landscape of Lexington. Altrusa provides multiple opportunities throughout the year to serve Lexington by collecting items for monthly baskets to support local charities such as Humane Society, Ronald McDonald House, Center for Women and Children.  The club also volunteers at God's Pantry, KET telethon and Ronald McDonald House, just to name a few. Altrusa is derived from the word altruism which means to give unselfishly to the welfare of others.

Club 21 and Lamplighter Club

Club 21 and Lamplighter Club

Lamplighters are Altrusans who have contributed $500(US) or more to the International Foundation in a twelve month period.  Contributions can be made in one's own name or on behalf of someone else.  Lamplighters receive a special Lamplighter Pin/Pendant.  With each additional donation of $500(US), in succeeding years a diamond chip is added to the Lamplighter Pin/Pendant.

Lamplighters are recognized in Altrusa publication and in the Foundation's Annual report and at the Foundation Luncheon held at each Altrusa International Convention.

The name Club 21 was chosen to emphasize the Foundation’s commitment to being Altrusa/Club21Med.gifinvolved in a major international health concern into the 21st century. Club 21 is unique in that contributors are a part of a "club," with a membership and their own pin. Through an annual contribution of $21 (US) or more, you can become a part of the foundation’s effort to support children infected with HIV and AIDS.

HIV and AIDS are global epidemics affecting people in all countries and from all walks of life, but it is the innocent children who bear the brunt of this disease. Club 21 is the opportunity to extend your hand to these children and their families.  As a member of Club 21 you will receive the special gold and white Club 21 Pin, signifying your participation in a program that every Altrusan will be proud of.  Club 21 – a way for you to make a difference.
