The
Lexington Altrusa club is implementing the project “Mighty Moms” with community sponsors to treat
moms and caregivers, who are caring for a child with a severe developmental or physical disability at home, to a weekend of
respite and fun.
The moms are selected for Altrusa’s Mighty Moms weekend of fun and relaxation –
away from your responsibility - a time for herself for an outing and pampering.

The 2009 Altrusa Summer Picnic at Becky Ray's House was a hit!
We had lovely weather, fantastic food and even some of the Mighty Mom's showed up with their families. Many items
were placed in the silent auction and were given to the winners at the end of the evening.
This is a yearly
event that all Altrusans look forward to. It is a time where we get to bring a guest with us to the meeting and
get to know eachother in a less formal setting.

Brains and Bellies is a literacy project that gives kids a chance for an afternoon of fun and enjoyment. They join Altrusans to
read books, do an activity, and of course - get a snack for their bellies! Shown in this picture is (from left to right)
